Deconstructing a Chord
In this section, you will learn how to break down a chord and use simple inversions to extract melodies. You will learn techniques such as Octave Displacement, Change Order and Direction, etc. We will work exclusively with ONLY one chord a the time, in order to extract as much melodic content out of one simple thing. Remember what Stravinsky said "Limitation is Creativity", which is what my whole method is about. Limit yourself to one simple musical element and manipulate it so that you can get a lot of music out of it. So here's what you need to practice: 1.- Pick ONE chord per week 2.- Spend 10 minutes a day (during your practice time) to practice all inversions (ascending and descending) until you become fluent and confortable. 3.- Manipulate the inversions and create your own melodic cells (You will learn this in this Module) 4.- Write your favorite melodic cells down and practice them 5.- Spend 2 minutes improvising EXCLUSIVELY using all the elements practiced on the previous steps (You should NOT include any note that is not a chord tone) 6.- Repeat this process every time you practice during that week 7.- By the end of that week, you should have a lot more fluency on that one chord. 8.- Select another chord for the following week, and REPEAT THE PROCESS

Breaking Down a II-V-I
In this section, we will work on deconstructing a very common chord progression, II-V-I - V7/II and I will show you how to build simple melodies in different musical styles based EXCLUSIVELY using Chord Inversions and Rhythms.

Approach Notes
In this section I will show you how to properly use some of the most typical diatonic and chromatic approach notes, and we will analyze how to combine them with chord inversions in different musical styles to create great sounding, more complex melodies.

The Matrix Of Inversions
The Matrix Of Inversions is an easy and effective way to practice 4 chords so that you can easily become fluent and get an incredible amount of musical ideas.

NEW!! How To Practice Chord Inversions and Melodic Cells Over a Tune
This is a fantastic exercise! Try to apply ONE inversion at the time to an entire tune, BUT MAKE SURE TO WRITE IT DOWN FIRST! Alternate between ascending and descending motion. After you get comfortable with that, apply your favorite melodic cells (Broken chords) which you worked on the previous videos, and transpose/adjust them accordingly to all the chords of the tune. After that, apply basic 4-note rhythms.
